Asset Management
IT asset management is the established discipline of managing the total cost of IT assets from the initial procurement to end-of-life. Ideally all costs are captured and tracked in appropriate categories that provide management with better decision-making data on vendor selection, procurement processes, license management, maintenance costs, etc.
Additionally, asset management compliments the BSM and ITIL story. While not all assets are CIs and not all CIs are assets, the intersection of two important processes – asset management and configuration management comes together with customers utilizing the BMC Atrium™ CMDB and the BMC® Remedy® Asset Management solutions.
BMC® Remedy® Asset Management provides organizations full IT asset lifecycle management capabilities that are tightly integrated to the other applications found in the BMC® Remedy® IT Service Management suite. By leveraging the CMDB and asset management extensions to the CMDB, BMC provides a comprehensive asset management & configuration management solution.
