Frequently Asked Questions: QuickStart Datalink
What is the purpose of the QuickStart Datalink? To provide ITSM 7.0 customers with a framework for quickly and efficiently loading foundation data to the ITSM 7.0 system. The significant changes to the data model between pre-ITSM 7.0 and ITSM 7 applications mean that initial data configuration is a pain point for many customers.
What unique identifIer does the people datalink use for a person’s entry? The unique identifier used for a person on the people datalink is Corporate ID?
Can I change a person entry's login id? No, the new login id will be ignored and the original login id will be used. A workaround is to delete the person entry and run the datalink to reimport the person entry with the correct login id.
Why doesn't the information on the person entry update when the person is a support staff? There is a limitation on the people datalink. If the current Support Staff on the person entry is Yes and “Overwrite Permissions Support” = Yes on the people profile, then it will not update the person entry, but only the permission groups, support groups, etc. To get around this limitation, treat the people information and permissions update as two separate steps. When you want to update the people entry information for support personnel, set the "Overwrite Permissions Support" to No. When you want to update the permissions for the support personnel, set "Overwrite Permissions Support" to Yes. Normally, "Overwrite Permissions Support" is set to No since it is less frequent to update permissions information,
When the datalink is run, the data is not imported to the staging area. How do I troubleshoot? When the datalink is run and data failed to import, the first step is to check your AR System arimportcmd version. The arimportcmd.exe that is shipped with AR System 7.1 does not work properly with mapping files created with prior versions. Please upgrade to the Remedy Administrator version 7.1 patch 1 or greater. If the newer Remedy Administrator is not available, use the 7.0 version of the arimportcmd.
